London, (The Muslim News): Four Palestinians were killed and at least nine others injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza on Sunday, while Israeli forces imposed tighter restrictions across the occupied West Bank, including a planned weeklong closure, as armed settlers attacked a Palestinian-American’s home and set three vehicles on fire.
The developments came as Israeli forces also launched strikes across southern Lebanon despite a US-mediated framework agreement, while tensions involving Iran, the United States and the Strait of Hormuz continued with reports that Iran intercepted 19 ships and seized a US underwater drone. Eight US Marines were also injured in an Iranian missile strike on a vessel in the strait on September 14, according to US officials cited by NBC News.
In Gaza, a Palestinian was killed and two others injured when an Israeli quadcopter opened fire on tents housing displaced people in the Al-Tawam area of northwestern Gaza, according to medical sources cited by Anadolu.
Shadi Abu Hasira was killed when an Israeli drone struck a civilian vehicle in the Al-Sinaa area south of Gaza City, while 17-year-old Tariq al-Masri died from wounds sustained in Israeli gunfire in central Khan Younis.
Uday Adli al-Assar, 28, was also killed in an Israeli drone strike on Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis.
Seven Palestinians were injured in separate drone strikes in Gaza City, including two near the White Mosque in the Al-Shati refugee camp and five near tents housing displaced people around the Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood market.
The attacks came amid continued Israeli violations of the ceasefire that took effect on October 10, 2025. Anadolu reported that the truce was intended to end Israel’s war in Gaza, which Palestinian officials say has killed nearly 74,000 people and injured more than 175,000 since October 2023.
Remains recovered in Gaza
Gaza’s Civil Defense said it had recovered the remains of 28 Palestinians from beneath the rubble of a house in the Daraj neighbourhood of Gaza City that was destroyed in October 2023.
Family sources told Anadolu that Israeli warplanes had struck the Abu Naama family home.
The recovery followed the discovery on Saturday of the remains of seven Palestinians from two other destroyed houses in the Nuseirat refugee camp and Gaza City.
The Civil Defense’s second phase of recovery operations began on July 19 and covers sites in Gaza City, northern Gaza and Nuseirat. The agency estimates that 1,072 people may remain beneath destroyed buildings and plans to search 147 houses, but says progress has been slowed by a lack of heavy equipment.
During the first phase, which began in late November 2025, the remains of 333 people were recovered.
West Bank closure and Israeli settler raid
Israeli authorities have ordered a “comprehensive closure” of the occupied West Bank until October 3 for the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, according to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.
The measures include tighter restrictions at checkpoints and barriers and limits on Palestinian movement and access to holy sites. Israeli forces also closed roads and entrances around Ramallah and Al-Bireh and restricted access to several villages, Wafa reported.
Separately, dozens of armed illegal Israeli settlers entered Abu Falah village east of Ramallah at about 1.30 am, surrounded the home of Palestinian-American Mustafa Zaatar and set three vehicles on fire, Zaatar told Anadolu.
He said residents later confronted the settlers and extinguished the fires.
Zaatar said his US citizenship had not protected him and that family members in the United States contacted the American consulate, which subsequently reached out to him. He asked consular officials to visit his home to assess the damage and security situation.
Israeli strikes hit southern Lebanon
Israeli forces launched airstrikes and artillery fire against several areas of southern Lebanon, including towns in the Tyre, Nabatieh, Marjayoun and Bint Jbeil districts, according to Lebanon’s state news agency NNA.
Mansouri, Wadi Zibqin, Nabatieh al-Fawqa, Kfar Tibnit, Mayfadoun, Kafr Rumman, Mazraat al-Shomeriya, Al-Qusayr, Beit Yahoun, Safarin and Hadatha were among the areas reported to have been targeted.
The Israeli military alleged the attacks were carried out in response to a Hezbollah explosive-laden drone launched towards its forces on Saturday. Hezbollah had not commented on the Israeli claim.
The strikes came despite a US-mediated framework agreement signed in June.
Hormuz tensions
Iranian forces intercepted 19 ships attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz outside a route designated by Tehran over two days, Iran’s Fars News Agency reported, citing military sources.
The agency did not identify the vessels or say whether any were detained.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also said it had seized a US Remus 600 underwater drone in the strait, claiming it was being examined by its specialists.
The IRGC said the Strait remained closed and warned against what it described as unauthorised transit.
The developments came as diplomatic efforts continued over reopening the strategic waterway.
Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi told the UN General Assembly that Muscat would continue safeguarding navigation through the Strait of Hormuz while urging Iran and the US to resolve their disputes through a lasting political settlement.
Separately, eight US Marines were injured on September 14 when an Iranian anti-ship cruise missile struck a vessel they were operating on in the Strait of Hormuz, NBC News reported, citing three US officials. The Marines suffered smoke inhalation and concussion-like symptoms but were not seriously injured and returned to duty shortly afterwards.
The vessel was not a US Navy ship, according to the officials.
Yemen fighting intensifies
Yemen’s internationally recognised government forces claimed they had carried out 756 operations against Ansar Allah [Houthi] targets over 72 hours, saying the operations killed or wounded 2,316 members of the group and killed four Iranian specialists in Taiz. The figures were given by military spokesperson Col Majed Abdullah al-Nuzaili. He said the operations involved aircraft, drones, snipers, artillery and rocket launchers and targeted positions across several provinces. There was no immediate response from Ansar Allah and the figures could not be independently verified.
Netanyahu meets UAE President
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu secretly travelled to Abu Dhabi on Sunday and met UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed, according to Israeli reports.
The meeting was not announced in advance and Netanyahu’s office declined to disclose details of the discussions. Reports said he travelled on a private plane and spent the day in the UAE.
Mauritius cancels Israel flight
Separately, Mauritius refused landing clearance for a scheduled Air Seychelles flight from Israel, forcing its cancellation, according to Israeli media.
Israeli tour operator Spirit World Productions said it had been told the decision was based on “political and diplomatic considerations”.
Mauritian authorities had not publicly commented, while Israeli media cited sources linking the decision to the absence of a Mauritian delegation during Netanyahu’s address to the UN General Assembly.
