Fresh Israeli strikes kill Palestinians in Gaza as ceasefire violations mount across the region

London, (The Muslim News): At least two Palestinians were killed and two others wounded on Sunday as Israeli forces launched new attacks across the Gaza Strip, in breach of a ceasefire agreement in place since 10 October 2025, medical sources confirmed.

The latest strikes follow two days of intensified bombardment in which at least 37 Palestinians were killed in attacks on shelters, displacement tents, a police facility and residential apartment blocks.

A medical source at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza said one Palestinian was killed and two others injured in an Israeli strike on the Wadi Gaza area. Eyewitnesses reported that an Israeli drone fired at least one missile at a civilian gathering north of Wadi Gaza, an area previously designated for evacuation under the ceasefire terms.

A second Palestinian was killed in Israeli artillery shelling of the al-Shakoush area, northwest of Rafah, according to hospital officials.

Separately, residents reported demolition operations carried out by Israeli forces northeast of Gaza City, accompanied by heavy gunfire from military vehicles and cranes. Israeli forces also opened fire west of Rafah and east of the Bureij refugee camp, while naval units fired towards the sea off Gaza’s northern coast.

Gaza’s media office said Israeli attacks since 11 October have killed at least 524 Palestinians and wounded more than 1,400 others, despite the ceasefire.

The truce brought to an end a two-year Israeli assault on Gaza that killed nearly 71,800 Palestinians and injured more than 171,400. Around 90 per cent of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure has been destroyed, with UN estimates placing reconstruction costs at approximately $70 billion.

EU condemnation without consequences

The European Union condemned Israel’s repeated ceasefire violations on Sunday, calling for full adherence to international humanitarian law.

Hadja Lahbib, the EU Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, said hundreds of Palestinians had been killed or injured in Israeli strikes over the weekend.

“We condemn the repeated violations of the ceasefire in Gaza,” she said in a statement posted on X, stressing that civilians must be protected “everywhere and at all times”.

However, the EU stopped short of announcing any concrete measures, such as sanctions or diplomatic penalties, against Israel.

Forced displacement in the West Bank

Meanwhile, Israeli forces ordered residents of a Bedouin community in the occupied West Bank to evacuate and detained three foreign solidarity activists on Sunday.

Mustafa Kaabneh, a resident of the Khalayel Bedouin encampment south of al-Mughayyir village near Ramallah, said soldiers entered the area at dawn, issued evacuation orders and arrested three activists.

The encampment’s 11 families have rejected the order, fearing the land would be taken over by illegal settlers. Residents were previously displaced from Ein Samiya two years ago following repeated settler attacks and pressure from Israeli forces.

Another resident, Najeh Kaabneh, said settler violence has escalated since Israel launched its war on Gaza in October 2023, with near-daily attacks aimed at forcing Palestinians off their land.

He cited restrictions on grazing, threats, assaults, and the establishment of an illegal settler outpost next to the encampment, alongside vehicle seizures and arrests by Israeli forces.

According to the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, illegal Israeli settlers carried out nearly 4,723 attacks in the West Bank in 2025, killing 14 Palestinians and displacing 13 Bedouin communities comprising more than 1,000 people.

There are now some 770,000 illegal settlers living in over 180 illegal settlements and 256 illegal outposts across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. The UN has repeatedly affirmed that all Israeli settlements are illegal under international law.

Since October 2023, at least 1,110 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank by Israeli forces and settlers, with more than 11,500 injured.

In July 2024, the International Court of Justice ruled Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory unlawful and called for the evacuation of all settlements.

Lebanon ceasefire breached

Israeli ceasefire violations were also reported in southern Lebanon, where one person was killed and seven others injured in Israeli strikes on Sunday, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

The attack targeted the town of Ebba in the Nabatieh governorate. Separately, a drone strike set a vehicle ablaze in the town of Harouf, injuring one person, Lebanon’s official news agency reported.

Despite a ceasefire agreed in November 2024, Israeli attacks have killed and wounded hundreds of Lebanese. Israeli forces continue to occupy five Lebanese hilltops seized during the most recent war, in addition to territories held for decades.

Israel escalated its military campaign against Lebanon into a full-scale war in September 2024, killing more than 4,000 people and wounding around 17,000.

Lebanese officials have repeatedly called on the international community to pressure Israel to abide by the ceasefire, while Hezbollah has reaffirmed its commitment to the truce and demanded a full Israeli withdrawal.
