Egypt: Three policemen injured in Cairo blast

CAIRO (AA): Three policemen were injured in a bomb blast near a courthouse in eastern Cairo on Monday, the Interior Ministry said.

An explosive device went off inside a traffic sentry post in Heliopolis district, injuring two traffic officers and a conscript, the ministry said in a statement.

A security source earlier said that two traffic officers and a civilian had been injured in the blast.

According to the source, another bomb was defused by bomb disposal experts in the area.

There has been no claim of responsibility for Monday’s attack.

Egypt has been roiled by violence and unrest since the military ousted democratically-elected President Mohamed Morsi in a military coup two years ago.
