ARUSHA, (AA): At least seven people, including four police officers were killed when gunmen raided a police station in Tanzania’s business capital of Dar es Salaam on Sunday night, a senior Tanzanian police official said Monday.
A large quantity of arms, including 15 submachine guns and ammunition were stolen in the incident.
“In short, I can confirm that gunmen have raided our police station in Ukonga Stakishari, killing four officers and two civilians. The third person who died in the incident is believed to be one of the raiders,” Tanzanian Inspector General of Police Ernest Mangu said via telephone.
Six months back, gunmen had raided another police station in Rifiji district’s Ikwiriri area that left two police officers dead.
