Two Plymouth women who urinated in front of a Muslim family in a park while shouting racist abuse have walked free from Plymouth Crown Court on November 27.
Natalie Richardson, 32, and Claire Farrell, 36, squatted in front of a Syrian family and their own children and urinated while drunkenly hurling racist abuse.
The prosecution described how the Syrian couple, both practising Muslims, had been having a picnic in Central Park on August 16 with their 10-year-old son and eight-year-old daughter.
Drunken Richardson and Farrell pulled down their underwear and squatted within metres of the Syrians while shouting racist abuse.
Richardson even pushed a bystander in the chest when he tried to intervene in the incident on a quiet Sunday afternoon.
Richardson and Farrell were with five young children at the time.
Despite describing their behaviour as “disgusting”, a judge imposed only suspended sentences.
Recorder John Trevaskis said: “Nobody in civilised society could see your behaviour in any way justified or acceptable, not in the multi-cultural society in which we live. I describe it as disgusting.”
Richardson had pleaded guilty to religiously-aggravated threatening and abusive behaviour on August 16. Farrell had denied the charges.
