Sir, As someone who has been called a ‘Muslim-loving paedophile’ and ‘socialist scum’, I can state that many of us in the “white community”, politicians and otherwise do call these right-wing fascists exactly what they are – extremist bigots.
There are many of us in the “white community” as there are in all communities who are dedicated to the exposure of those who would spread hate and division. Only when we stop being communities and become simply humanity will we have won this battle.
The irony of right-wing racist bigotry is that it can affect anyone, no matter what colour your skin is. So yes, as a politician, those right-wing bigots are terrorists. (‘For media, police & politicians, right wing whites can’t be terrorists, can they?’ in The Muslim News, Issue 1 July)

Sir, The murder of Jo Cox MP has shown that there is an increase in right wing white extremism in this country. The Government is not taking this seriously as it can be seen by the Prevent Extremism strategy and the current Counter Extremism proposed Bill which is targeted mainly at the Muslim community and their religion, Islam.
Even though then Home Secretary, Theresa May, claimed Prevent also targets right wing extremists, in practise this is not the case.
We don’t see Churches being targeted nor Christianity nor Christians. If a Christian pupil or students of other faiths ask for a room to pray in, they will not be sent to counter terrorism Channel Programme. However, if a Muslim pupil asks a prayer room, he gets sent to Channel Programme.
When right wing white extremists murder people they are not considered terrorists. Only Muslims are. And the whole Muslim community is blamed for the killings.
Yours,
Shireen Khan
