ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AA): Pakistani military accused Indian border forces of killing at least six civilians, including two women during “unprovoked” shelling and firing along the eastern border between the two nuclear-armed countries. 20 others were injured near the Working Boundary in Sialkot.
A large number of livestock was also killed and wounded in the shelling.
In a statement, Pakistani army’s media-wing — the Inter Services Public Relations — said the incident took place in Bini Sulariyan Village near Sialkot’s Charwa Sector.
Earlier this month, a five-year-old girl was killed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir when an Indian soldier opened fire across the LoC.
The orphan was killed when a single bullet by an Indian soldier hit her as she stood in the courtyard of her house.
Pakistani border forces — Pakistan Rangers — also responded and targeted the Indian post that allegedly fired mortars on civilian population, it said.
Despite a cease-fire agreement signed in 2003, the two countries frequently blame each other for firing on the Working Boundary and the Line of Control (LOC), a de facto border that divides disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir.
