BAGHDAD/MOSUL (AA): Iraqi forces took control from the Daesh terrorist the majority of western Mosul’s Old City district, according to an Iraqi command.
“The common forces fighting in Mosul controlled half of the Mosul’s Old City,” the statement from Iraqi Joint Operation Command said.
The Iraqi military remains engaged in a wide-ranging campaign — launched last October — to recapture the entire city the terrorist group overran in mid-2014.
In a related development Sunday, Daesh militants attacked Peshmerga positions in northwestern Kirkuk, leading to two hours of clashes in that city.
