NEW YORK (AA): Police are investigating as a hate crime notes urging violence against Muslims discovered Wednesday at an apartment complex in the state of Maine.
An Iraqi man went to Westbrook police late Wednesday after finding a piece of paper that said, “All Muslims are Terrorists should be Killed,” police said.
Officers took action and found a second note, while receiving reports that Iraqis residing at the complex had recovered two additional notes.
Police said they did not know whether the notes were related to media coverage of 38-year-old Adnan Fazeli, an Iranian who lived at the complex after arriving in Maine as a refugee in 2009. Fazeli was reportedly killed in Lebanon last year while fighting for the Daesh terrorist group.
Officers will continue to work with residents during the ongoing investigation, police added.
