Poets’ Corner: Days of Light

8th Jun 2018

In it, the Qur’an was revealed,

Islam was taught

And the Final Messenger crowned.

In it, the angels abound

In vast numbers

Upon the doers of Good

And seek blessings multifold.

In it, the light of Allah

Shines forth

Perceivable by the human eye,

If sought.

In it, each virtue

Carries reward 70 fold,

A great enticement towards good.

In it, the gates of Hell

Are thrust together

Whilst the doors of Paradise

Continue to invite.

In it, whoever passes from this world

Will bear no punishment

Till the Final Day.

In it, Allah’s throne

Descends to the lowest heaven

Searching for needy supplicants.

In it, Mercy, Forgiveness and

Protection from Hellfire

Are guaranteed

To those who seek with sincerity.

In it, the sworn enemy of humanity

And all his associates

Are chained in and constrained

To the Fire of Hell.

In it, Allah’s Mercy overcomes His Anger, and in all directions,

His softness disperses.

In it, the awesome Night of Power

Enshrouds seekers in

Majestic mists of Light

With promises of Hope and Divine Acceptance.

In it, exuberance is replaced by sorrow of this

Blessed month passing once more.
