Sir, I am outraged at the report of the NUS on the experience of Muslim students. [The Muslim News, May 4. ‘Third of Muslim students fear attack’]
As the survey shows, the draconian Prevent strategy is to be blamed for the way Muslims are treated in this country. Muslim students cannot even speak freely for fear of arrest at colleges and universities. What kind of British values is this? Not for the Muslims, I take it.
Yours,
Maryam Ali,

Sir, Please forgive my ignorance but in my most humble opinion all those who object to women dressing up modestly and gracefully should be asked, “Do they also object to the nuns wearing their modest and graceful garb?”
Such people also need to be educated that such a modest and graceful dress was also the dress of the holy Mary which the nuns abide by.
What’s more, about 150 years ago the majority of women in the west would also dress up something similar to the way the nuns do.
Yours,
Alsahdiq
