Scrolling news:

Islamophobia on flight

30th Sep 2016

Sir, Not only do Muslims face Islamophobia on land, at ports, but now it has extended to flying on planes too. The reasons why they are kicked out are, as you say, bizarre. Nothing to do with extremism or terrorism. Just plain Islamophobia. So much suspicion and hatred!

The examples are so absurd – kicked out because of discussing delay of the flight, reading a cultural book on Syria, being bearded, talking in Arabic, switching seats, texting in Arabic, being an Arab, passenger and flight attendant feeling uncomfortable, no reason given etc.

What is so alarming is that the airline and the police are part of the Islamophobia – they accept all the above absurd excuses and terrorism!

No wonder young people become radicalised as they are treated like trash.

Yours,
Sakina Ahmed
