Sir, I think it is very encouraging to see British Muslims taking an active role in their country’s politics and particularly to see Muslim women doing so. (See Record 13 Muslim MPs elected, 8 of them women).

Sir, First of all congratulations to the Labour Party for selecting many of the Muslim candidates in winnable seats. The Conservatives are not delivering to the Muslims – only one new Muslim MP.
What a shame. Of course it’s worse for the Lib Dems who had no Muslim MP. Well, can’t blame them as they were wiped out for joining in the Coalition. Still the Commons does not reflect the society it represents.

Sir, You are right that the Tory Government is divisive and doesn’t care about the Muslim community as its attitude to the Muslims showed during the elections.
The Tories believe that Muslims don’t deserve their attention as they would not vote for them as the Hindus would. But then do you treat your citizens in such a divisive way? Just because they don’t vote for you doesn’t mean you don’t treat them as if they don’t exist.
And anyway, the Tory Government is a minority Government as only 24% of eligible voters voted for them. A whopping 76% did not vote for them. It shows the country is not pro-Tory.
