Double standard on reporting Islamophobic attacks

24th Dec 2015

Sir, Typical double standards by the media. Imagine if the victim was a non-Muslim and suspect an ostensible Muslim? (Mother filmed branding woman an ‘Isis bitch’ walks free, The Muslim News, November 27)
More media coverage would have ensued and this would’ve been on the front page of newspapers. Now that this reprobate has been convicted, where is the media coverage? Hardly any coverage!

And if the suspect was an ostensible Muslim, I doubt jail would have been avoided.

Let’s not forget to mention more hypocrisy by the media: when a terrorist attack happens, they attach it to Islam as much as they can with not a shred of evidence that Islam teaches this.

But when Islamophobic attacks happen, they deliberately refer to it as “racial attack” instead of “Islamophobic attack” (even though the latter is what actually happened). Well done for correctly highlighting that this was an Islamophobic attack.
