Birmingham school episode shows Britain is anti Muslim

25th Jul 2014

Sir, So the Ofsted inspectors were not able to find any extremism in Birmingham schools. All the hysteria by Government and Opposition politicians and the media was found to be untrue.
What I find most disturbing is that none of them apologised for demonising the Muslims, especially the staff and governors.
It seems if you are a practising Muslim, British Government and media considers us as extremists.
Britain is anti Muslim anti Islam.

Sir, I agree with your Editorial on the Islamophobic attacks by the Government and media on Birmingham schools with Muslim majority.
Two decades ago, Muslims were encouraged to be teachers and governors of schools. But when they do that they are demonised as we saw last month. Muslims were accused of taking over schools even though most of the students in those schools are Muslim and are in high Muslim population areas. No one complains about schools which have majority white Christian or Jewish teachers and governors. In large number of schools they have only white staff and governors.
As you rightly pointed out, the plight of Muslims being treated as second-class citizens only seems to worsen is so true.
Yours,
Iqbal Mohammed
