Paksitan: Three killed in suicide car bomb attack on Bannu police station

PESHAWAR, (Dawn): At least three people, including two women and a policeman, were killed while 27 others, among them 10 women and children, nine policemen and eight civilians were injured as militants targeted Bannu’s Domail  Police station with a car bomb.

Officials said the suicide bomber struck an explosive laden vehicle on the backside of the police station on the outskirts of Bannu.

The attack completely destroyed the police station and at least two houses. Moreover, 10 houses surrounding the station were damaged and those inside were injured as well.

District Police Officer Ghafoor Afridi said it was a suicide attack that took place at about 5:30 am. He added that three people had died and over a dozen personnel were injured.

The Medical Superintended of the District Headquarters Hospital, Dr Iqbal Marwat, told that nine of the injured were being treated at that hospital while others had been shifted to Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital.

The MS of Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital said 18 injured, including women, children and policemen, were brought to the hospital and some of them were critical.

Separately in another incident, a security forces vehicle struck a landmine in lower Kurram tribal region adjoining Shadana Dand.

Sources told, one FC person was killed and another one was injured.
