According to official sources, in the Shlobar area of the Khyber Agency, security officials tried to stop a suspicious vehicle, when it did not stop the security personnel opened fire on it.
Three suspected militants died on the spot, whereas, three others wounded were arrested by security forces afterwards.
Sources added that two security personnel were also injured in the exchange of fire.
Khyber is part of Pakistan’s semi-autonomous tribal belt on the Afghan border. The Taliban and other Al Qaeda-linked groups, who stage attacks in both countries, are known to have strongholds in the zone.
