Pakistan: Attack on Jamrud check-post leaves three dead

By Zahir Shah Sherazi

PESHAWAR, (Dawn): At least four militants and three Khasadar personnel were killed during a clash on Wednesday night when militants attacked a security check-post in Khyber Agency’s Jamrud Tehsil , security officials said.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the death of three khasadars while eight were also injured in the exchange of fire which took place at the Sur Qamar area of Jamrud.

Official sources said the attack took place at the Hawaldari Chowki on the Pakistan-Afghanistan highway near Sor Kamar area.

A reinforcement party of the Frontier Corps (FC) sent to support security forces also came under attack, they said.

The injured included two soldiers of the Frontier Corps (FC) force.

Intelligence officials confirmed the attack and claimed that a number of militants were also killed.

Officials had earlier said the number of casualties may rise as the gun-battle continued between militants and security forces.
