Hundreds of Palestinians attended a funeral Sunday to mourn the death of a teenager killed by Israeli occupation forces the previous day near Ramallah.
Witnesses said 15-year-old Wajih al-Ramahy (photo above) was shot dead in cold blood as he left a grocery store Saturday evening in the Jalazoun refugee camp by an Israeli soldier stationed at Jewish settlement 300 meters away.
Doctors at the Ramallah hospital to where the boy was taken, said he died of a single gunshot wound. His father, Wajdi, said Israeli soldiers had shot him without being provoked, explaining that there were no clashes in the area.
An Israeli military spokeswoman said a military police investigation had been opened but she did not provide details.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas blamed Israel in a statement for the “cold-blooded assassination” and said it was destructive to the so-called peace process.
Saturday’s death brought to 26 the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli occupation forces since the beginning of this year, the great majority in the West Bank, according to an AFP tally.
