RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) – A Palestinian teenager was shot dead by Israeli forces during clashes in the Israeli-occupied West Bank on Thursday, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
“Mohammed Hattab, 17, was killed by Israeli forces during clashes that occurred at the entrance of Al-Jalazone refugee camp north of the West Bank city of Ramallah,” the ministry said in a statement.
“Another three Palestinians were seriously injured in the clashes,” it added.
Palestinian medical sources in Ramallah said the slain teen, Mohammad Mahmoud Hattab, 17, his parent’s only child, was shot with live rounds in his chest and shoulder, and was rushed to a hospital where he died from his serious wounds.
The sources added that Jassem Mohammad Nakhla, 18, was shot in the head and leg, Mohammad Mousa Nakhla, 18, was shot in his shoulder and leg, and Mohammad Hattab, 18, was shot in his abdomen. The three wounded teens remain in very serious conditions at the Intensive Care Unit.
Israeli army, for its part, said that he shot the teenager after he allegedly attacked Israelis with firebombs.
Since October of 2015, 267 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli army, most of whom were shot dead while allegedly carrying out attacks on Israelis or while clashing with Israeli troops.
Israel, for its part, says 47 Israelis have been killed over the same period in attacks carried out by Palestinians.
