10th Feb 2014

RAMALLAH, (WAFA): Israeli settlers uprooted on Sunday more than 400 newly planted olive trees in the village of Sinjil to the north of Ramallah, according to a local official.

Head of sinjil municipality Ayoob Sowaid said a number of settlers stormed the village and attacked farming lands planted with olives, uprooting around 400 trees.

He said that this attack is the third in less than a month during which around 3000 olive shrubs were uprooted by settlers, he estimated.

Suwed said the uprooted olives were planted as part of a project funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross which undertakes reclamation and cultivation of lands.
