JERUSALEM (AA) – Crews from Israel’s Jerusalem Municipality removed banners with Quranic verses in occupied East Jerusalem on Wednesday.
“People from Jerusalem’s municipality, guarded by Israeli troops, raided my shop at Al-Musrara near Al-Amoud Gate in occupied East Jerusalem and removed the banners,” Mustafa Abu Zahra, a Palestinian store owner, told Anadolu Agency.
Abu Zahra added that the banners were put up 32 years ago and licensed by the relevant authorities.
According to Israel’s Jerusalem Municipality, the banners were removed under the pretext of being an Islamic symbol.
