Palestine: Four Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in West Bank

HEBRON, Palestine (AA): A Palestinian teenager was shot dead by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday, the Health Ministry said. The new fatality came hours after Israeli forces killed three Palestinians, including activist Ibrahim al-Nabulsi, in a raid in Nablus city early Tuesday.

A ministry statement said Moamen Yassin Jaber, 17, was shot in the chest by Israeli forces in Hebron city and died of his wounds.

Palestinians staged rallies in the West Bank on Tuesday to protest the killings amid clashes with Israeli forces.

A ministry statement said 40 other people were injured in the raid in Nablus city, including four in critical condition.

The Israeli army said Ibrahim al-Nabulsi, a member of the Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of Fatah group, was killed in the raid.

A military statement said Israeli soldiers surrounded the home of al-Nabulsi, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

Israeli forces used shoulder-launched missiles against the building in which al-Nabulsi was hiding, the army said.

No injuries were reported among Israeli soldiers.

Meanwhile, clashes were reported between Palestinians and Israeli forces in the cities of Ramallah and Al-Bireh during protests against the killings.

The Israeli government, for its part, hailed the army operation in Nablus.

“I salute the security services for this operation, since they carried out a focused operation with great success and without any casualties among their ranks,” Prime Minister Yair Lapid said in a statement.

A similar message was made by Defense Minister Benny Gantz, who praised the army and the Shin Bet domestic intelligence service, for “neutralizing the Palestinian activist Ibrahim Al-Nabulsi in Nablus.”

The Israeli army accuses al-Nabulsi of carrying out attacks against its forces in Nablus.

Whilst in Gaza, on Tuesday, the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said a man died from serious wounds he suffered last Saturday, during the Israeli bombardment of Beit Hanoun, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

The sources said Ibrahim Shehda Abu Salah, 41, was seriously injured when the army fired missiles and shells at homes and buildings in Beit Hanoun, killing many Palestinians and wounding dozens.

He was seriously injured Saturday, the second day of the three-day Israeli onslaught on the Palestinians in the impoverished Gaza Strip.

On Monday, the Health Ministry confirmed that a child died from serious wounds she suffered on August 6 after the Israeli army bombarded the Um an-Nasr village in Beit Hanoun, Gaza.

The Health Ministry said the child, Hanin Abu Qayda, 10, was seriously injured when the Israeli army fired missiles at a civilian car, killing her grandmother, Na’ama Mohammad Abu Qayda, 62, and wounding seven family members.

Their deaths bring the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli missiles and shells during the three-day offensive on Gaza (Friday-Saturday-Sunday) to 47 Palestinians, including one elder, three women, and fifteen children. The number of wounded Palestinians is 360, including 19 elders, 58 women, and 151 children.

The deaths came two days after an Egyptian-brokered cease-fire ended three days of Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, in which 47 Palestinians were killed and dozens injured.
