RIYADH (AA): A 2-year-old child and a Pakistani national were killed in a terror attack in the eastern Qatif province, the Interior Ministry said late Friday.
The attack Thursday also injured six Saudi citizens and four foreign nationals, including two Pakistanis, one Indian and one Sudanese. Four policemen were also suffered injuries.
A clash broke out between police and “a terrorist group” that targeted a company, Interior Minister spokesman Mansour Al-Turki told the state news agency, SPA.
The aim was to obstruct the demolition of abandoned old houses in Al-Masoura district, which terrorists used as hideouts and dens for criminal activities including kidnapping and drug-peddling.
The group fired randomly, including at pedestrians, he added.
Al-Masourah district of Al-Awamiyah is one of the town’s oldest areas, with some of its buildings more than 100 years old.
