Two men armed with knife took 5 people hostages killing one priest in a church Tuesday morning.They attacked the Catholic church in Saint-Etienne-du Rouvray, Normandy, France,during morning service.

IN addition to the priest, two nuns, two worshippers were taken hostage. One of the nuns is in a critical conditon. The police killed the two assailants as they were leaving the church.

Prime Minister Manuel Vallis expressed “horrror” at the “barbaric attack.”

President Francois Hollande has arrived in the town with Minister of Interior, Bernard Cazeneuve.

“We are terribly hurt” by the priest, Hollande said. He added that the hostages felt “pain and sadness” and want to “find out what happened.”

Hollande, calling the attack as a “terrorist” attack, said, “We are facing another ordeal. Threat remains very high”

The President indirectly blamed the attack on Isis and said, “Isis has declared war on us” and “we must take war on them”.

He sent message of sympathy to “all the Catholics” in France.

The Vatican has expressed “pain and horror” at the attack.

The French anti terrorism judges have been asked to investgate the attack.

The population of the town is 27,000.
