Kazakhstan: About 50 injured in train collision at Almaty railway station

ALMATY, (Xinhua): About 50 people were injured on Sunday in a collision between a train and a locomotive at the Almaty railway station in Kazakhstan, the Main transport Procuratorate’s office of Kazakhstan said.

According to the office, a locomotive with no passengers collided with a passenger train at about 18:05 at the train station when passengers were boarding it. As a result, four people, including one passenger, were hospitalized, about 50 others suffered minor injuries.

Earlier, the press service of the City Department of Emergency reported five people were hospitalized due to the incident.

The cause of the incident is under way.

According to the Department, the collision has not affected the schedule of other trains.
